About Eymet
Eymet is a medieval bastide in the Dordogne. Sitting just 2.1km away from the Gites it is accessible by car or on foot. Bursting with historical buildings and its very own castle Château d'Eymet, which dates from around 1270.
The day markets and brocantes operate all year round, however it really comes to life in the summer months with weekly night markets, With the annual Wine & Oyster festival and much more entertainment you will be spoilt for choice.
Try the bars and cafes where you can sit and watch the world go by, or indulge in the vast choice of restaurants. Take a stroll around the many independent shops to find that perfect gift or a treat for yourself.
We even have an organic Vineyard just down the road from Petit Rousset Gites, practically on our doorstep. Vignes des Angélys, with around 5 hectares of rolling vines.

There are many Chateau in and around the Dordogne, such as:
Chateau de Bridoire 18km - One for the whole family, including children’s games and events. A very impressive Chateau for all to enjoy.
Chateau de Duras 20km - Visit the 'whispering wall’ room.
Chateau de Biron 47km - Your vision of a Chateau is situated between Villereal and Monpazier - so make it a day trip all in one!
Chateau de Beynac 82km - On top of a very steep hill is Le Chateau de Beynac. Follow the little cobbled streets all the way to the top where there is a little cafe to get your breath back before your descent, Situated right on the Dordogne river with plenty of restaurants and canoeing to make the most of the day. You could also visit neighbouring La Roque-Gageac for a real history overload.
Food markets operate weekly in various towns offering vibrant and in season food bursting with local flavours.

Duras
On the borders of the Dordogne and the Gironde, is Duras, overlooking the Dropt valley and the former lands of the Dukes of Duras. Visit the castle, the main jewel of the old and medieval bastide, which dominates the vineyards of the region producing the delicious Côtes de Duras wine.
